The Mold Volume Factor, used to calculate the Wet Density of a One-Point test, is used in placed of the actual Mold Volume. The Mold Volume Factor is determined by the following:
Mold Volume Factor = 1 / Mold Volume
The One-Point Wet Density Calculation differs from that of say, a Drive Cylinder:
EXAMPLE
Drive Cylinder
Wet Density (pcf) = Wet Soil Weight (g) / Volume of Cylinder (cf)
One-Point
Wet Density = Mold Volume Factor x Wet Soil Weight (g)
The above One-Point math can be re-written as:
Wet Density = (1 / Mold Volume) x Wet Soil Weight (g)
