Purpose

Select LIMS from the MetaField home page and then choose Soil Proctor Results.

There are 2 options for entering the Proctor information:

Add Proctor

  • Use when entering Proctors for different projects or to add a single Proctor quickly – without searching for a project first.

View Proctors

  • Use when you want to add several Proctors to a single project or want to view Proctors already added to a project.
  • You will need to first search for the desired project or one from the Recent Projects list. Select the View Proctors link next to the project and then Add Proctor for this Project.
  • Use when you want to add an image to a proctor.

The system only allows Proctors to be added to Active projects. If you are unable to add a Proctor, make sure the project is Active in your source system.

Tip

In order to import proctor test results from a configured test form, the system names outlined above need to be used. In addition, you need to add your proctor from the View Proctor Results screen using the Add Proctor For This Project button. On the Add Proctor pop up window, use the Import Proctor Test Results button to import test results.

The copy process will also copy the supporting proctor curve image if it exists. The proctor curve chart field on your configured form needs to have ProctorCurve as the system name of that field.

The system will manage which test results have been imported to a Proctor Results record. In order to keep track of this, your configured form needs to have a Y/N field with a system name of ProctorCopied.


Editing Proctor Values

To edit existing Proctor information in MetaField choose the pencil icon from the grid. 


Warning

Proctors can only be edited or deleted if they are not currently used on a Soil Density test.

Exception: If necessary, proctors can be edited if they've already been used on a density test with the Manage Soil Proctors special permission (Roles)


Adding a Proctor Curve or Image

Both Proctor Curves (PDF file format) and Proctor Images can be added to a Proctor. To do this, you must first choose the correct Proctor from the list. Then select the Upload Proctor Curve/Image button. You will need to identify if the file you are uploading is an image of the Proctor or a Proctor curve. After your file has been uploaded, an icon will appear in the grid. If you choose this icon, you can view the uploaded file.

Adding a Proctor Family Curve

To add a Family Curve, select the Add Family Curve For This Project button on the View Proctors screen. Enter the name of the Proctor Family Curve, along with any notes as necessary, and select save.

Uploading a Family Curve Image

 To upload an image to a Family Curve, select the appropriate Family curve and then choose the Upload Family Curve button. Once an image is saved, an icon will appear under the Family Curve column. You can select this icon to view the image. 

Adding Proctors to a Family Curve

To add individual proctors to a Family of Curves you must first add the Proctor Family. Then you can edit a Proctor and choose the correct Family Curve value. 

Deleting Proctor Curves / Proctor Images / Family Curve Images

Once a file has been uploaded, you can remove the file by selecting the X to the right of the image icon.

Copy Proctor Values to a New Project

One or more Proctors can be copied from one project to another by using the Copy Proctors To Another Project button.

The system will default the Proctor ID to the existing value. You can update this to a new Proctor ID by selecting the bar that contains the Proctor ID.

The system will copy any images associated with the Proctors by default.

You can prevent images from being copied by selecting the bar that contains the Proctor ID and unchecking the appropriate field.

Once you have made any necessary changes to your copied Proctors and associated images, select Save.

You will be moved to the View Proctors screen for the Project to which you copied your Proctors.

Warning
titleFamily Curves

If a Proctor is associated with a Family Curve, the curvewill be copied along with the Proctor, unless the Family Curve already existing in the new project.




Deactivate, Activate, Delete and View History on Proctors

From the View Proctors screen in LIMS, you can deactivate, activate, delete or view history on a Proctor by using the icons described below.

Deactivate
  • Proctor is unavailable for use on future Soil Density tests and is hidden from dropdown lists in Field. 
  • Deactivated Proctors will display in the main grid in Quality Control as well as on Reports.
  • If you choose to edit a test with a deactivated Proctor, on the edit screen you will see Pending Proctor and you will need to select an Active Proctor.
Activate
  • Used to change Inactive Proctor to Active.  
  • Once change to Active, the Proctor will be available in the Field dropdown list.
History
  • View the create and last modified user and date.
Edit
  • Opens the record to make changes.
Delete
  • Permanently deletes the Proctor from the system.
  • Only Proctors that have not been associated with a density test can be deleted.

How do I edit or delete a Proctor that has been used on a test?

You can’t. If you have discovered a Proctor contains incorrect information, but that proctor is currently in use, contact the project manager to determine next steps.

Exception: If necessary, proctors can be edited if they've already been used on a density test with the Manage Soil Proctors special permission (Roles)

How do I make sure a Proctor is not used on future tests?Deactivate the Proctor.  A Proctor in the status of Inactive, will remain on all tests where it was used, but will not be available for any future tests.
How do I change the Proctor on a test that has already been saved?Within Quality Control, the project manager can change the Proctor on any test until the test has the status of Complete.
