Field Notes

  • Fields notes are optional and internal notes only.
  • Fields There is also an option which allows for the moisture content (%) to be entered directly on the test if known instead of calculating the percentage with the difference in weight between the wet and dry sample.

Mold Volume Factor

Note
titleImportant

The Mold Volume Factor, used to calculate the Wet Density of a One-Point test, is used in place of the actual Mold Volume. The Mold Volume Factor is determined by the following:

Mold Volume Factor = 1 / Mold Volume

The One-Point Wet Density Calculation differs from that of say, a Drive Cylinder:

EXAMPLE

Drive Cylinder

Wet Density (pcf) = Wet Soil Weight (g) / Volume of Cylinder (cf)

One-Point

Wet Density = Mold Volume Factor x Wet Soil Weight (g)

The above One-Point math can be re-written as:

Wet Density = (1 / Mold Volume) x Wet Soil Weight (g)
