Purpose

Technicians can be assigned work orders by a scheduler. These work orders are comprised of one to many work items. Some Work Items are supported in MetaField (Soil Nuclear Gauge Testing, Concrete Cast Cylinders, Activities, etc.). MetaField also allows your organization to add Work Items that are not currently supported in the application. Once a Scheduler assigns you a Work Order, you will see it at the top of the screen under "My Assignments". Once you accept the Work Order, it will display under My Work Items.

  • Once you have accepted a Work Order, it will display under My Work Items.
  • Selecting the + icon will expand the Work Order so you can see view more details.
  • If a Work Item is contained in a dark blue bar, you can select the item and choose Open Form.
Doing this will bring you to associated section of MetaField Field. If your Work Item requires form tracking, the relationship between the Work Item and form will be created at this time.
  • If your Work Item is contained in a light blue bar, this field work is not currently supported by the application and you must document your work outside of MetaField.
  • When you are done will all of the Work Items, you should mark the item as finished by selecting the Complete button.
  • If you need to Decline a Work Order after it has been accepted, you can do this by choosing the Decline button.
  • If you need to report that the work has been canceled after you accepted the work order, you can do this by choosing the Work Canceled button.

...

  • When you are reviewing your Work Orders, you will notice that the system provides the number of hours leading up to the start time or after the end time.
  • If your Work Order is in the future, the system will display the number in black font and provide you a countdown to when your Work Order is scheduled to begin.
  • If the time is between the start and end times for your Work Order, the system will display the number of hours until the end time in green font.
  • If the time is past the end time for your Work Order, the system will display the number of hours past the end time in red font.

Sometimes a Work Order needs to be completed on a specific day, but the time is discretionary. To accommodate these situations, your scheduler may mark the Work Order "As Available".

Technicians Assigned

Sometimes the same work needs to be completed by multiple technicians. To accommodate this, your scheduler may schedule multiple technicians within the same work order. If multiple technicians are scheduled on the same work order, they will be all listed in My Assignments.
