LIMS - Equipment

Purpose

The Equipment module is used to store a high level inventory of equipment used in a materials laboratory. The module will also track if equipment needs to be calibrated or not, when it was calibrated and what the configurable calibration values were. The Equipment screen is broken down into the following sections.

Section	Description
Equipment Type	High level grouping of the different equipment types / groups
Equipment	Listing of the individual pieces of equipment belonging to a selected Type
Calibration	Listing of the calibrations performed on a pieced of equipment Only appears if the Calibrated field on the equipment = Yes
Calibration Data Point	Individual data points (measurements) for the calibration

Equipment Type

Click Add Equipment type to add a type / grouping of equipment.

Equipment

After an Equipment Type is selected, you will see the pieces of equipment belonging to that type. Click Add Equipment to add a new piece of equipment to that Type.

Field	Description
Name	User friendly name for the piece of equipment Required
Code	Internal code / asset code for the equipment
Manufacturer	Manufacturer of the equipment
Serial Number	Serial number of the equipment
Model Number	Model number of the equipment
Lab	Lab the equipment belongs to Required
Calibrated	Indicates if the equipment needs to be calibrated
Description	Open ended description (notes) of the equipment

Equipment Calibration

If a piece of equipment is calibrated, you enter the calibration events by clicking the Add Equipment Calibration button.

Field	Description
Calibrated By	Name of the person that performed the calibration
Date Calibrated	Date the calibration event happened
Expiration Date	Date the calibration expires
Comments	General comments / notes about the calibration event

Equipment Calibrations can be copied by clicking the Copy button on the right side of the grid. This will create a new calibration record and copy over the Calibration Data Point labels so new calibration measurements can be entered.

Calibration Data Point

Calibration data points are the individual calibration measurements taken. There can be zero to many data points for a given calibration.

Label	Label to describe the data point
Value	Measured value of the data point

Filter Pane

Equipment data can be filtered on using the filter pane. The Expiring From filter can be used to find the most recent calibration events that are expiring between a user-supplied date range.
