Sampling - Concrete / Grout / Mortar

Purpose

This section of MetaField allows you to record data specific to concrete, grout and mortar samples.  In MetaField these different activities are broken down into the Sample Types listed below. Users select a sample type when adding a concrete / grout / mortar sample and the data input screens will be customized based on the sample type selection.

Screen shots below may be for a particular sample type, but would apply to other sample types also.

Selecting a Project

To select a project, you can choose the Search Projects button.  If you are already in a project, you can change projects by selecting the Project Number.

Last Logged Sample

If the project you are working with has already had samples logged to it, you will see the details regarding the last logged sample. This may be helpful in determining the next set number for you to record on your cylinder molds. Samples saved as a Draft status will not display in this section.

Saving a Concrete Sample

You have two options when saving: Save and Save As Draft.

FieldDescription
Save
  • Saves the sample with a status of Logged.
  • Sample will be available in QC.
  • Sample can be included on a Daily Report.
Save As Draft
  • Saves the sample with a status of Draft
  • Provides an option to Continue (Save & Continue) or Close (close the form in Draft status)
  • Sample will NOT be available in QC
  • Sample will NOT be available to be included on a Daily Report.
  • Can be accessed within the Manage Samples & Batch Pick Up / Check In Field Screen

Actions After Saving

After you have successfully saved a sample, a variety of action buttons are available.

FieldDescription
Add New Concrete Sample
  • Opens a new sample record

  • No fields are copied from the previous sample

Copy Last Sample
  • Opens a new sample record
  • Several fields will be copied from the previous sample
  • New Sample Type can be selected, however samples will not be related
  • Specimen size and set (specimen count / details) are copied if copying to the same type of sample
Add Related Sample
  • Opens a new sample record
  • Several fields will be copied from previous sample
  • Creates a relationship between the two sample records. This relationship is viewable from QC.

Example of when to use Related Sample

If you are taking two different Sample Types from the same truck (e.g., Cast Cylinder and Density Test), you may choose to add these as related samples
