Density Testing - Sand Cones

Table of Contents

Purpose

Sand Cones used for field soil density testing are managed here.

FieldDescription
Name
  • Name of the sand cone used for easy identification (i.e. "Blue Team Gauge", "Truck 1001 Gauge", etc.)
Sand Cone ID
  • Identification number of the sand cone
Method
  • The Method used to calibrate the sand cone
Calibration / Test Sand Name
  • Name of the sand used for a particular sand cone test (i.e. Sand A123). Records available based on Sand Calibration entries
Method A Bulk Density of Sand (g/cm³ )
  • Bulk density of the sand used, if the sand cone was calibrated via Method A. (Sand Cones can be calibrated via Method A or B, or A & B. If a sand cone is calibrated for both methods, the technician in Field, will determine which method is used.)
Method B Bulk Density of Sand (g/cm³ )
  • Bulk density of the sand used, if the sand cone was calibrated via Method B. (Sand Cones can be calibrated via Method A or B, or A & B. If a sand cone is calibrated for both methods, the technician in Field, will determine which method is used.)
Wt. of Funnel & Base Plate Sand (cm³ )
  • Calibrated weight of funnel and base plate sand for a particular sand cone
Vol. of Funnel & Base Plate (cm³)
  • Calibrated volume of funnel and base plate for a particular sand cone (Value will display as Calibration Volume on Sand Cone report)
Calibration Date
  • Date the sand cone was last calibrated
Calibrated By
  • Person who last calibrated the sand cone
Office
  • Office associated with a particular sand cone

Sand Calibrations used for Sand Cone testing are managed here.

FieldDescription
Calibration / Test Sand Name
  • Name of the sand used for a particular sand cone test (i.e. Sand A123). Entries become available to select when adding a sand cone.
Bulk Density of Sand (g/cm³)
  • Bulk Density of the sand used for sand cone tests.
Calibration Date
  • Date of when the Sand was calibrated
Calibrated By
  • Person who last calibrated the sand

Info

For Method A of Sand Cones, changing the bulk density of sand at the sand cone level, will not alter past test results.

Inactivating a sand cone removes it from the list of sand cones to select from in the Field module
