Purpose

In this Administration module you can configure which Activity fields a user can search by as well as what is returned in their search results. Depending on the Display Area selected, certain Field Types may be prohibited. You can also determine which fields display on the Discrepancy Report and Daily Field Report.

Selecting System Names

When adding a "Field" in this area, you actually will be selecting a System Name. A System Name is assigned by the user upon creating a new Field for a Form. System Name can be used once on a Form, but may be repeated on every Form. When you select a System Name for a Search Result Display Area, MetaField will return results for any Activity record with a matching System Name field. However, when you select a System Name for a Filter Display Area, you must also select the Field Type. In this case, MetaField will use this filter to return matching Activity records for this Field Type and System Name combination.

Display Active System Names

By Default, when selecting a new field, the system will present you a list of System Names for Active fields only. To display both Inactive and Active System Name fields, remove the checkbox next to Display only Active System Names.

Changing Field Order

 You can set the order that the fields display for a given area by choosing, Reorder Fields. A popup will appear with all of the selected fields. You can click and drag the individual fields into the desired order.

Display Areas

Filters and Search Results are preconfigured for you. You may always alter this configuration as needed. Below is a list of Display Areas and an explanation as to what part of the system to which they apply.

Daily Field Report
  • This display area is used to control the display of Fields on the Daily Field Report
Daily Field Report Closed Discrepancies
  • This display area also appears on the Daily Field Report, but under the heading of "Closed Discrepancies"
Discrepancy Report
  • Use this display area to select the Fields for use when building your Discrepancy Report in Report Designer.

    When adding upload fields to this area, you will also want to add the image field to the Report Image Metadata area.

    Only fields that display on the main form level, inside a Section or a primary data grid are eligible for inclusion on the Discrepancy Report. Nested or secondary data grid fields are not allowed to be added to the Discrepancy Report at this time.

Field Activity Report Filter
  • When creating an Activity Report from the Field, these are the fields that you can use to search for Activity records.
Field Activity Report Results
  • Fields added to this display area will appear when choosing Activities to add to an Activity Report created in Field
Field Daily Field Report Filter
  • Allows you to configure the date and technician fields that the system will use to select Activity records to add to the Daily Field Report

This is pre-configured to use the Technician and Date fields that default on a Form. Be cautious of changing these as this could result in Activity records not being available for selection on this report.

Field Daily Field Report Results
  • When choosing Activity records to include on a Daily Field Report, these Fields will display for each Form to help users choose the correct Activities
Field Manage Activities Filter
  • After you select Manage Activities in Field, the fields configured here will be available for you to filter your list of Activity records
Field Search Results
  • Once you have filtered your Activities in Field (Manage Activities) these Fields will be presented to help you choose the desired Activity
QC Activity Report Order
  • Control field display when choosing the order of Activities when generating a report
QC Activity Search Filter
  • In Quality Control > Activity, when searching for Activities for a specific project these Fields will be available
QC Activity Search Results
  • In Quality Control > Activity, when working with a project, this controls which columns will display
QC Discrepancy Report Search Filter
  • After choosing Discrepancy Report from the Activity Review screen in Quality Control, this area allows you to set the fields by which you can search for discrepancies
QC Discrepancy Report Search Results
  • After choosing Discrepancy Report from the Activity Review screen in Quality Control, this area allows you to control which columns display
QC Project Search Filter
  • In Quality Control > Activity, when searching for a project, these fields will be available
Report Image Metadata
  • Use this display area to choose Fields that will display next to images attached to the Discrepancy Report or Daily Field Report
Utilities Data Extract
  • In Utilities > Activity Data Extra, this controls what Fields will be available for display on the data extract
Utilities Search Filter
  • In Utilities > Activity Data Extract, you can set fields to search for Activity records using this area

Utilities Search Results

  • In Utilities > Activity Data Extract, this controls which columns will display
