About

The Settings tab has a number of sub-tabs.  The various sub-tabs are used to define values that are selected by users in various pick lists in MetaField.

Sample Types

The Sample Types grid lists the various sample types available for concrete work.

FieldDescription
Name
  • Name of the sample type.
  • These are system names and not editable.
Code
  • Short name to identify the sample type.
  • Editable by administrators.
Default Specimen Size
  • Captures the default specimen size (used most) for that sample type.
  • Default specimen sizes can't be defined for sample types that are not physical samples (Field Test, Truck Log)

Certain sample types listed (Field Test, Truck Log) do not pertain to the capture of physical samples. MetaField simply considers them a classification of concrete work.

Specimen Sizes

The Specimen Sizes tab is used to store all of the specimen sizes used in your practice.

FieldDescription
Name
  • Name of the specimen size.
Diameter / Width
  • Diameter of the cylinder / width of the beam.
Height / Length
  • Height of the cylinder / length of the beam.
Depth
  • Depth of the beam.
Used for Beam
  • Indicates if the specimen size is applicable for beams.
  • Only specimen sizes with a check mark will be presented when entering a beam sample type.
Used for Cast Cylinders
  • Indicates if the specimen size is applicable for cast cylinders.
  • Only specimen sizes with a check mark will be presented when entering a cast cylinder sample type.
Used for Density Test
  • Indicates if the specimen size is applicable for concrete density tests.
  • Only specimen sizes with a check mark will be presented when entering a cast cylinder sample type.

Admixture Unit

The Admixture Unit tab all of the concrete / grout / mortar sample types along with applicable metadata:

  • Sample type code (abbreviation)
  • Default specimen size
  • Default specified test age
  • Default test cost

General

The Default LIMS Batch Report Specimen selection allows you define a default answer to the question asked when preparing a batch report in the LIMS system. The two possible answers are:

  • Selected Specimens Only
  • All Specimens In Sample

Admixture Unit

The Admixture Unit tab is used to store all of the admixture units used in your practice.

The Sampled From tab is used to store the places concrete is sample from (chute, mixer, etc.) in your practice.

The Sampling Method tab is used to store the various Sampling Method values that can be selected from in a C/G/M form.

Sample Condition

The Sample Condition tab is used to store the various Sample Condition values that can be selected from in a C/G/M form.

To get Sample Condition to display on break reports such as the Compressive Strength of Concrete report, a sample record must have both a 'Sampling Method' and 'Sampling Condition' value set.
