StatusDefinition

Review

Complete

  • Applied when test data review is complete and the specimen is ready for reporting

Uncollected

  • Specimens were never Picked Up or Checked In from the field

If a specimen is incorrectly marked as Uncollected in Field, a Quality Control user can set the status back to Logged.

A specimen cannot be reported on a lab / specimen report until it's status is set to Complete. Draft samples can't be added to any report.

Review Status

  • The use of the "Review" status can be determined by each business using MetaField.
  • A common use of the "Review" status is used to indicate that the QC user has started to review the Specimen, but is not yet ready for reporting.

Common Controls

ControlPurpose

  • Opens the sample record so it can be edited (sample grid)
  • Allows for report comments related to a specimen to be added (specimen grid)

Specimen Grid Edits

  • If the Test Age and/or Hold indicator for a Specimen need to be edited, they must be edited prior to the Specimen being "Checked In"
  • If the change needs to be made after this point, the lab must be notified directly
  • Lab results can't be modified in the QC module - they must be changed in the lab module
  • Indicates there are Field Notes that are part of the sample record
  • Field Notes are not reportable and visible (at the bottom) if you edit the sample record
  • Indicates if the sample is related to another sample
  • Typically used if you are casting more than one type of sample type from a given sample of concrete (i.e. casting some cylinders and creating a beam)

  • Shows the reports that a sample / specimen has been reported on

  • Allows for pickup information (curing metadata) to be modified

  • Allows for check in data to be modified

How to Review & Edit Data

StepDescriptionExample
4.

Directly under the Concrete Samples table is the Concrete Specimens table.

Specimens Display

  • The Specimens displayed in the Concrete Specimens Table are related only to the Sample which is currently highlighted on the table above.
Therefore, you can only view Specimens for one Sample at a time.
  • The check boxes on the left end of the Concrete Samples table are used for creating reports, not for controlling what appears on the bottom Concrete Specimens table.

Editing of Cast / Logged Date

  • The Cast / Logged Date for a sample may be edited until one more specimens has been checked-in to Lab. Once a specimen has been checked-in, this date cannot be changed unless you have the elevated Manage Concrete Sample Date permission that grants you access to change the date.

Creating Batch Specimen Reports

There are times where it is helpful to create specimen reports for multiple sets at the same time.  You can do this using the Create Batch Specimen Report button above the Sample Grid.  Simply mark the sets you want to report and click the Create Batch Specimen Report button.

When using this functionality, you are required to select like sample types (i.e. all marked records are cast cylinder records). You are NOT allowed to create a batch report with a mix of beams and cast cylinder records, for example.
