Purpose

Field Density Testing allows you to capture information on a Soil Nuclear Gauge, Sand Cone or Bituminous Nuclear Gauge Test in the field.  After identifying which type of test you are performing, MetaField will provide you the necessary fields for data input.

Selecting Projects

Before entering test data for a Density Test, you must select the appropriate project.  You can do this by selecting a project from the list of Recent Projects or by searching for a project.

Field Instructions

A project manager can enter Field Instructions in Project Specifications that will display for technicians when they entered the initial Density Testing screen for a project.  This communication vehicle is project specific and read-only in Field.

Adding a New Density Test

The first screen you will be brought to when entering a new Density Test is the main test screen.

All Density Tests

All Density Test Types share the same main page. Specifications and Test Date required will change depending on the Density Test Type you choose.

FieldDescription

Test Types

  • Auto-populated based on test selected.
  • Test Types:
      • Bituminous Nuclear Gauge
      • Moisture Content
      • Sand Cone
      • Soil Nuclear Gauge
  • This is a required field
  • This field can not be edited.

Entering a Starting Analysis Number

The first time you perform a density test for a project, a Enter Starting Analysis Number field is presented.  If you enter a number in this field, your test sequence will start with that number.

As each Test Type has its own numbering sequence, you may provide a starting number for each Test Type.

Notes & WBS

A field technician can enter internal notes regarding the test along with indicating the WBS (Work Breakdown Structure) the work relates to on a project.

Manage Density Tests

Past density tests can be viewed and edited in the field as long as the test is in pending status. A field user can also edit density tests that are in analyzed or review status if the "Edit Density Tests' permission has been assigned to their role. Tests in complete status can be viewed but not edited in the field. From the Density Testing menu, select Manage Density Tests. Search for a density test using the appropriate search filters ans select Search. Select a test from the search results to navigate into that test were results can be viewed or edited.

Retests & Pending Tests

The main density testing screen will call out any Retests or Pending tests so field technicians are made aware of open items.

Copy Last Test

After you save a Density Test you will be presented the option to create a new test by copying information to a new test.  By selecting Copy Last Test, certain fields (not specific to an individual test) will pre-populate on a new test record.

Create Report / Add New Field Activity

After you successfully save a Density Test, you can quickly create a density test report from the field if you have rights to do so. In addition, you can quickly enter a new type of field activity (concrete, etc.). Select the Create Report button to create a density test report from the Field reporting module. Click the Add New Field Activity button to add a new type of field record (concrete, activity, etc.).
