Sample Section

After you have selected a project Sample Type (Add Sample button) you will be taken to the main Sample screen.

FieldDescription
Sample Type
  • Visual reference to the sample type selected
Technician
  • Select the person who is performing the work
  • Defaults to the current user
  • This is a required field
Date Logged / Cast
  • Record the date by typing in a value or selecting from the calendar
  • This is a required field
Placement Location
  • Select corresponding location from the drop-down
  • List is controlled by your MetaField Business Administrator
  • This is a required field
Location Details
  • Type in additional location information
  • 500 character limit.
  • This is a required field
Longitude
  • Longitude (in degrees) where the activity is happening

Up to 8 decimal places are allowed in the longitude value.

Latitude
  • Latitude (in degrees) where the activity is happening

Up to 8 decimal places are allowed in the latitude value.

Project Location ID
  • Client defined field to identify granular site locations based on business process.
  • This information displays in QC only, not on reports.
Alternate Sample / Set #
  • Used to store an alternate / cross-reference sample and set number
  • Optional and not used very often

Specified Strength

Modulus of Rupture

  • Enter the Specified Strength for the sample
  • Defaults if defined in Project Specifications
  • Modulus of Rupture only applies to Beam sample types
Specified Strength Test Age
  • Enter the test age for the Specified Strength (i.e. 28 days)
  • Defaults if defined in Project Specifications
Min/Max Wet Unit Weight
Min/Max Dry Unit Weight 
  • Enter unit weight specifications
  • Displays for Density Test sample types
  • Defaults if defined in Project Specifications
Lower / Upper Specified Air Limit
  • Air Content low / high limit specifications
  • Defaults if defined in Project Specifications
Lower / Upper Specified Slump
  • Slump low / high limit specifications
  • Defaults if defined in Project Specifications
Lower / Upper Specified Spread
  • Spread low / high specifications
  • Defaults if defined in Project Specifications
Lower / Upper Flow Cone Limit
  • Flow Cone low / high specifications
  • Defaults if defined in Project Specifications
Lower / Upper Cone Penetration Limit
  • Cone Penetration low / high specifications
  • Defaults if defined in Project Specifications

Notes & WBS

This screen allows you to enter notes pertaining to the current sample.  These notes are only internal notes that can be viewed in the Quality Control module.  In addition the project work breakdown structure for this field transaction can be defined along with the number of hours spent on this work.

Saving a Concrete Sample

You have two options when saving: Save and Save As Draft.

Save
  • Saves the sample with a status of Logged.
  • Sample will be available in QC.
  • Sample can be included on a Daily Report.
Save As Draft
  • Saves the sample with a status of Draft
  • Sample will NOT be available in QC
  • Sample will NOT be available to be included on a Daily Report.
  • Can be accessed within the Manage Concrete Samples Field Screen

Copying and Adding Related Concrete Sample

After you have successfully saved a sample, you will have the option of copying the sample you just entered.  

FieldDescription
Add New Concrete Sample
  • Opens a new sample record

  • No fields are copied from the previous sample

Copy Last Sample
  • Opens a new sample record
  • Several fields will be copied from the previous sample
Add Related Sample
  • Opens a new sample record
  • Several fields will be copied from previous sample
  • Creates a relationship between the two sample records. This relationship is viewable from QC.

Example of when to use Related Sample

If you are taking two different Sample Types from the same truck (e.g., Cast Cylinder and Density Test), you may choose to add these as related samples
