Setting Density Project Specifications

Blank Project Specifications

If any field is left blank, the defaults (global settings) specified within MetaField Administration will be used.

Field Instructions

  • Any information added to this box will display to Field users for all Density Tests

Soil Density Test Specifications

  • You can enter specific moisture and soil classification specifications on a project level or for a specific soil classification and/or loction
  • Specifications entered here will be applied to Field as follows:
    1. System will look for a match on Location and Soil Classification
    2. System will look for a match on Location
    3. System will look for a match on Soil Classification
    4. System will look for a global project setting (no Location or Soil Classification)
    5. System will look at Admin settings
  • These fields only apply to Soil Nuclear Gauge, Sand Cone or Moisture Content Tests
  • Field users can override these default values in Field
  • The table will load in the order that the system will look up a match from Field.  
Field
Description

Location

  • Select one or many Locations to which these specifications should apply
  • If no Location is selected, system will assume all Locations not specified elsewhere in Project Specifications

Filter Location List for Project

If you have set locations on the General tab of Project Specifications for this project, by default the list of locations will be filtered to only those chosen.

If you want to see the list of all locations, you need to remove this filter.

Soil Classification

  • Select the classification to which this thse specifications should apply
  • If no Soil Classification is identified, system will assume all Soil Classifications not specified elsewhere

Moisture Specification

  • If box is left unchecked (Displays as YES in the table), Lower and Upper % Moisture Tolerance is entered in Field
  • If box is checked (Displays as NO in the table), Lower and Upper % Moisture Tolerance fields are hidden and all moisture results will be passing

Lower/Upper Moisture % Tolerance

  • Enter the lower / upper moisture tolerance values

Require Maximum Specified Compaction

  • Select this box if you would like Specified Maximum Compaction values entered
  • This box will default based on the current global setting in Administration

Minimum/Maximum Specified Compaction (%)

  • Enter the minimum / maximum specified compaction values
  • These values can be overridden in Field as necessary

Moisture Requires Retest

  • Select this box if you would like a Field user to perform a retest on Tests that fall outside the defined Moisture Tolerance.
  • If left unchecked, tests that fail on moisture will NOT be presented for a retest
  • Defaults to TRUE when adding a specification


Bituminous Density Test Specifications

Material

  • Identify the material to which the specifications apply
  • The list of materials is determined by your MetaField Business Administrator
  • This is a required field

Require Maximum Specified Compaction

  • Select this box if you would like Specified Maximum Compaction values entered
  • This box will default based on the current global setting in Administration

Minimum Specified Compaction (%)

  • Enter the minimum specified compaction for the material selected
  • Users can edit this value in Field
  • If left blank, global specifications will be provided in Field
  • If minimum specifications are provided, maximum specifications must also be entered

Maximum Specified Compaction (%)

  • Enter the maximum specified compaction for the material selected
  • Users can edit this value in Field
  • If left blank, global specifications will be provided in Field
  • If maximum specifications are provided, minimum specifications must be also entered

Required Retest

  • Select this box if you would like a Field user to perform a retest on Tests that fall outside the specified compaction range
  • If left unchecked, failing Bituminous Nuclear Gauge Tests will NOT be presented for retesting

Below are examples of how moisture and compaction settings will default in Field based on what is entered in Project Specifications and global settings in Admin.
