Specifications

Purpose

Specifications allows Project Managers to define project-specific values that MetaField will use to override any global settings. There are numerous project specifications that can be defined and are outlined in the related pages noted above.

Project specifications can't be added if the project is an inactive project.

Project Specification Audit

The Project Specification Audit button can be used to create a data extract containing the counts of records for the various types of specifications stored. This helps users perform audits to see if there are missing specifications for projects in MetaField. The specification audit is based on the projects returned in the project search grid based on the filter applied to generate the list of projects. When running specification audit, you will be asked to supply an email address to deliver the results to. The audit process will execute in the background and send a .csv file to the provided email address.

Copying Project Specifications

Project specifications can be copied from one project to one or many "target" projects after you open a given project. Simply click the Copy Specifications To Another Project button and select the target project you want to copy the specifications to.

ALL specification data is copied. If your target project already has specifications defined, you will be given the option to override those specifications or skip copying to that project.

It is sometimes helpful to create a "template" project to use as a starting point for all new projects. The specifications can be copied from the "template" project to the new project to save specification setup time.
