QC - Density Testing

Purpose

This section of QC allows you to review Density Tests as well as build and finalize reports. When you first start using QC you will need to search for a project from the project search panel.  Recent projects you have worked with will display below for easy access. Select View Tests to open the project and see the associated Tests.



View Tests

Only projects with Density Tests will have a View Tests link.

Density Test Filters

To limit the test results displayed, you may set various filters in the filter pane and select Filter.  These filter settings will be retained until you select Clear or navigate away from the page.  To save a commonly used filter set, apply filters accordingly and select Save Filter.



Edit Density Test Results

To edit a Density Test, select the pencil icon next to the test.  This will open the test for editing.  Depending on your permissions you will be able to edit various fields.

Reviewing All Density Test Fields

Not all fields are available for viewing from the Test Review table. Opening the test for editing will allow you to review all test data.

Batch Edit

Multiple test can be edited at once by checking the box then clicking the Batch Edit button.



Only users assigned to a security role with the Manage Density Field Test Data permission are allowed to make changes in the Test Data section. Only users assigned to a security role with the Manage Density Test Date permission are allowed to make changes to the Test Date field. See your MetaField administrator regarding assignment of this permission should your business workflow require this.

The Retest Not Required check box can be used to indicate that a test does NOT require a retest in the event the business rules determined a retest should be performed.

Certain Density tests may allow for image plotting on the uploaded proctor curves file.  Please note that only image file types may be plotted on.  PDF file types can not be manipulated.Image Plotting

Field Notes

If a technician has added Field Notes to a Test, an icon will display on the Test Review table.  



To view the note, open the test for editing and scroll to the bottom.

Related Tests

Related Tests can be added / removed in the QC Edit / Review Screen. If a test is related to another record, this relationship will be indicated on the QC grid. Related tests are only available for Soil Nuclear Gauge, Sand Code and Moisture Content tests.

Select the arrow icon to display the related tests.

Report Comments

You can add comments to a single density test.  These comments will display on the client report. To add Report Comments, open the test for editing and scroll to the bottom.

Changing Test Status

To update a test status, check the box next to one or more tests and select Change Status.

Select the top checkbox to select all tests in the current view at one time.

Test Status Definitions

Important

Only tests in the status of Complete or Pending can be reported.

Analyzed

  • This status is automatically assigned by MetaField after all required test data has been entered and calculations can be performed.
  • This status may also be manually set by a user in QC (except were the Test status is Pending and test calculations have not been performed).

Pending

  • MetaField will automatically assign this status if all required fields are entered but test results cannot be calculated.
  • You may also manually assign this status in QC.
  • Tests with a status of Pending can be included on a report.

Complete

  • A user assigns this status after completing Quality Control review.
  • Tests with a status of Complete can be included on a report.

Review

  • Review is an optional status that is defined by your company’s business process.
  • This status is manually set by a user. 

Examples of Using the Review Status

Review can be used if the test review has been started, but may take more time to complete. The project manager can assign the status as a reminder that he is waiting for information about this test.

Creating a Density Report

Reports - Test Status = Complete

Only tests with the status of Complete may be added to a Sand Cone, Soil Nuclear Gauge, Moisture Content, or Bituminous Nuclear Gauge Report.

1.Go to Quality Control and select Density Testing.

2.Select the desired project. If you have previously been working in MetaField, the last project selected will display. To view another project, click Change Project.


3.Verify that the test status of those you want to include on your report are set to Complete.

Check the box next to desired tests.

Expand table

Use the bottom table controls to expose more tests on the page. You can only add tests from a single page.


5.(Optional) You can view your report by clicking Preview Report.

There are two options when adding tests to a report:

  • Select Draft Report button. This will create a report and send this report to the Draft Review portion of Quality Control.In order for the report to be sent to Delivery, the report will need to be Finalized from Draft Reports.
  • Select Finalize Report button. This will create a report and send this report to Delivery.

Optimum Moisture

Upon creating a density report, the option to include / exclude the Optimum Moisture Tolerance column on the report will be presented.


View Legend

To view all of the Test Remark Codes and applicable Test Modes used in MetaField select the View Legend button.  These codes and descriptions will also display on Density Testing reports.
