LIMS - Capping Method

Table of Contents

Purpose

When data from concrete cast cylinder specimen is entered in the LIMS component, LIMS users will specify a code representing the type of capping method used.  The Capping Method values presented are managed on this screen.

FieldDescription
Code
  • Code / short name used to represent the capping method
Description
  • Description of the capping method
Standard
  • Standard (i.e. ASTM) associated with a particular capping method
Use as DefaultIf set to yes, when the Specified Strength (PSI) value falls into this range, the Capping Method value will auto populate with the Code.
Min Specified StrengthLower bound for the specified strength range which will assign a default value.
Max Specified StrengthUpper bound for the specified strength range which will assign a default value.

There cannot be overlap in the minimum and maximum specified values between different capping methods.

Example of using a the default setting

When entering test data for a cylinder, cylinders that have a value between the minimum and maximum specified strength setting will receive the associated Break Remark.

  1. So if we have 6000-10000 as the range for the Sulfur capping method, any value in that range will be auto populated with the S capping method.

     2. Since the specimen we're testing had a specified strength value of 7000; the capping method will be set as an S automatically.  Note: You can still change this value manually on the screen.
