Lifecycle of an Activity Record
Activity is an extremely flexible module that allows virtually any kind of data to be gathered and reported. All of the customization is done in the Administration module where an Administrator must create a form. A form defines the set of data to be collected and reported, and various options about how the process will work. Once the form is created in Administration, activity records can be created and flow through the process described below.
Field
An activity record can be created in the Field module. It can be entered completely or saved as a Draft. If the Administrator has configured the form to include potential discrepancy data, this will also be created as a part of the activity record. In the Field module a user may also create a field activity report containing one or many activity records. At this time a discrepancy log can be appended to the field report if discrepancy data has been collected against the project.
Quality Control
Once an activity record is created, it is viewable in QC immediately by the project manager. Unlike other areas of MetaField, an activity record can also be created in the QC module rather than in Field. This is used for complicated forms or forms with long narratives that require a PC to input. An activity record that has been saved but not yet reviewed has a status of Draft or Entered.
At any time, a project manager may manually mark an activity as Review. This is done so that the activity will be highlighted on the dashboard for future reference, but it is not a required step.
Once the project manager has reviewed the activity record they must set the status to Complete in order to create an activity report. If an activity record is later edited (for example to update a discrepancy) it will revert to Entered.
From QC, the project manager can create a discrepancy report at any time. A discrepancy report would only be applicable if the activity record has discrepancy data associated with it and this data will appear on the discrepancy report regardless of status of the activity record.

Dashboard
The project manager’s Dashboard will show them the number of activities Not Reviewed and Open Discrepancies. In addition, the Not Reported feature tracks the reporting of activities to ensure all are reported to the client.
