Purpose

For new customers deploying MetaField, this page will help you plan and organize all the information necessary to setup in MetaField. Gathering and entering this data is critical to a new deployment of MetaField. We have grouped these data configuration activities into a logical sequence of services you may want to roll out. Depending on your implementation plan, you may roll out these services together or one by one. Prior to rolling our a particular service (Density Testing, Concrete / Grout / Mortar Field and Lab operations, Activity, etc.) make sure you have completed all of the configuration items related to that group.

Project Specification is an area meant to be used by Project Managers to override some global settings from Administration, when project-specific settings differ.
In addition to overriding global settings, the items below can also be defined in Project Specifications. You will want to revisit this area after each phase of your roll out plan to determine if there are project specs that will be useful within your operations.

SectionAction
Project Specifications
  • An owning office for the project can be defined - which will be the default office listed on reports for the project
  • Locations from global settings can be paired down
  • Project and Client addresses that may be different that the addresses that come over from your project management accounting system
  • Project Documents can be uploaded so they are available in the field
  • Default notes can be set up that will appear on all work orders created against the project
  • Density Test specifications (moisture/compaction) can be changed if different than the global settings
  • Global and Test Specific Notes can be added to communicate to Lab Technicians project specific Notes
  • Mix Design lists can be filtered
  • Costs can be updated if different than the global settings
  • C / G / M specifications (sample/specimen/correction factors) can be changed if different than the global settings
  • Compressive Strength Alerts can be set up if different than the global settings

Info
titleScheduling Configuration

Data in this section will have to be entered if you intend to roll out Density Testing. Typically this is one of the first areas of MetaField that will get implemented operationally since the work flow is straight forward, there is not a lot of front end configuration, and there is a small LIMS component to get Lab personnel used to the softwarescheduling. Some customers will roll out Scheduling and Dispatch to their Field users first to get them accustomed to utilizing a mobile device to do their jobs before having them enter data into the Field module.

titleSafety Configuration

Data in this section will have to be entered if you intend to roll out Safety. This area of MetaField allows firms the ability to capture the results of a variety of Safety activities (Field observations, incident reporting, audits, etc) through a unique, customizable interface. The back end configuration is done within the MetaField DIY Engine. Typically firms will impliment this area after they have rolled out Density Testing and C / G / M since there is a lot more up front configuration. However, if you choose to copy our template safety forms, there is very little configuration needed.
